UP NORTH VACATION

View of water from the cabin deck-Gorgeous

Beautiful sunset
In late August we took a family trip to a cabin in northern Wisconsin.  We stayed at Island Lake which is between Hurley and Mercer, WI.  We stayed in a gorgeous cabin with wonderful views and a quiet lake that we felt we had to ourselves.  The cabin had tons of amenties, but lack some a TV and cable.  We were able to slow down and really enjoy ourselves.  The lake was so clear and still.  We got lots of reading done and just relaxed.

Ty's favorite activity was sitting in the water and playing with his rocks.  He would move his rocks between his pail and throw the rocks back in the water.  He could of sat there all day.  We did take Ty out on the canoe several times and tried fishing.  Of course with a toddler his attention span was limited, expect of course for the rock collecting.  We also played some baseball, enjoyed a fire and made smores.  We also tooks some walks on the road and Ty collected rocks as we walked.

We were able to take daytrips from the cabin.  We visited Copper Falls State Park.  We enjoyed a nice picnic lunch and walked along the trail to the view the Falls.  We also took a trip to Ashland and ate at the South Shore Brewery.  We enjoyed walking the downtown and looking at the murals, dipping our feet in Lake Superior, and enjoyed the scenery.

On our way home we stopped at the zoo in Minocqua.  The zoo was very expensive to get in, but Ty had so much fun looking at the animals and he was able to get up close to a number of the animals.  It was a wonderful and relaxing vacation to take before our crazy, busy month of September.

Ty a bit hesitant by the goat.

Being on vacation is exhausting!
